It was a bumper start to winter for Australia’s ski resorts with heavy snow falls across the alpine regions on June 1.
Video filmed at Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort in Victoria showed skiiers enjoying the heavy falls on the mountain. Snow machines were also in use.
“How good is this storm!?” the resort wrote in a Facebook post early on June 1. “Around 20cm have now fallen with blizzard like conditions expected to continue through today. Rug up if you’re coming up today (and don’t forget chains).”
The Bureau of Meteorology forecasted snow falling above 600 metres, rising to 1200 metres in the afternoon of June 1, with a chance of a thunderstorm and possible small hail. Credit: Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort via Storyful
