Winter Storm Brings Heavy Rain to San Diego

Rain lashed San Diego in the early hours of Monday, December 28, as a winter storm rolled in from the Pacific Ocean and over Southern California, bringing snow to higher elevations.

This footage was shared by staff at the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego, who tweeted: “These weather nerds are struggling to contain their excitement.”

Heavy snow was reported across the San Bernardino Mountains, San Jacinto Mountains, and in the Palomar Mountain and Mount Laguna areas.

The National Weather Service in San Diego said the storm had contributed to a “fairly staggering amount of accidents” overnight. “Remember, you’re not at the helm of a speedboat! After extended dry periods, oil accumulation on roads results in slick conditions when it rains,” the NWS tweeted. Credit: NWS San Diego via Storyful
