Windsor police say a constable with the department has been charged with refusing a breath sample while off duty on Thursday.

Police said in a social media post Friday that officers stopped a vehicle near Jefferson Boulevard and North Service Road East.

"The motorist refused to take an approved roadside screening device and was taken into custody," police said.

Police said the officer has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

"As the matter is now before the court, we will not comment or release further information at this time," police said.
