Wind and Rain Wreak Havoc on Cancun as Hurricane Grace Makes Landfall in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula

Hurricane Grace made landfall as a Category 1 storm just south of Tulum, Mexico, in the early morning of Thursday, August 19, carrying maximum sustained winds of 80 mph.

This footage taken by Miguel Aquino shows debris in the aftermath of Grace, as well as intense rainfall and wind sweeping through a busy road in Cancun.

The National Hurricane Center warned that hurricane conditions and a dangerous storm surge were expected along the eastern Yucatan Peninsula, and heavy rainfall over northern Yucatan and Veracruz state would likely produce flash and urban flooding as Grace moved westward.
