We’re set for another royal baby wait come spring with the impending arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child.

However, there might not be photos of the parents with their newborn on those famous steps outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London, like we’ve seen with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children.

According to Vanity Fair, there is “some talk” that Meghan, 37, might opt for a home birth.

The couple are expected to move to their new home Frogmore Cottage in Windsor ahead of the baby’s arrival. Although given this is Meghan’s first child, doctors are likely to advise a hospital birth.

If the Sussexes have moved by that point, they could still consider a hospital in Windsor, instead of checking into the private £7,500 a night Lindo Wing.

A source told the magazine that the couple “are drawing up plans for a nursery and a mother-in-law suite” so that Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland can stay with them.

The source said: “Doria plans to be around a lot when the baby arrives, and there are plans for her to have a dedicated space at their new home.

“She wants to be on hand to help Meghan and Harry with the baby. Doria will be involved and if she’s involved she will be encouraging Meg to go for a natural birth.”

Kensington Palace declined to comment on the reports.

Doria is a yoga teacher and Meghan was regularly spotted carrying a yoga mat when she lived in Toronto, before she moved to the UK.

The Duchess revealed that she was trying to beat jet lag by doing yoga, while she was on the royal tour of Australia.

The couple announced the news that they were expecting at the start of the overseas trip and Meghan had already had her 12-week scan.

Fans believe the Duchess could be much further along in her pregnancy than previously thought. Photos of Meghan and Harry attending a carol concert for the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund emerged earlier this week and her bump appears to have popped.

The mum-to-be’s last official public engagement was a reunion with the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen on 21 November.

However, Kensington Palace revealed that she had a private meeting with the Association of Commonwealth Universities at King’s College London on Wednesday, to discuss how higher education could help to tackle issues such as modern slavery, gender equality and climate change.

She currently has no scheduled engagements in her diary, but is expected to be in Sandringham for Christmas with Harry, the Cambridges and the Queen.
