Wildlife Photographer Guides Bear Away From South Lake Tahoe Resort Complex

A South Lake Tahoe man chased a roaming bear away from homes in the California city’s Lakeland Village resort complex, sharing the footage to Instagram on October 3.

Toogee Sielsch filmed his efforts as he escorted the bear away from the area, trying to herd it towards the nearby lakeshore.

“Go on now,” Sielsch says repeatedly in the video as he follows the burly intruder.

During the footage, one person can be heard shrieking as the bear crosses their path, with Sielsch advising them to keep moving out of the bear’s way. Sielsch eventually stops the footage as the bear climbs a tree close to the water.

“I put him in a timeout up a tree and he came down and left sometime after I left,” Sielsch wrote under his Instagram post.

Sielsch often films local wildlife, particularly the area’s “urbanized black bear population”, and shares these videos to his Instagram account. Credit: Toogee Sielsch via Storyful
