Wildfires rampage through California wine country

The video was taken on Monday (September 28) in Skyhawk, a suburb in Santa Rosa, after the Glass Fire merged with three other blazes - including the Shady Fire.

Evacuation orders were lifted from parts of Santa Rosa on Tuesday (September 29) as calmer winds gave firefighters a possible respite despite continuing above-normal heat and low humidity, Cal Fire officials said.

California fires have burnt over 3.8 million acres (1.5 million hectares) - an area nearly five times the size of Rhode Island - far exceeding any single year in state history. The fires have been stoked by increasingly frequent and

prolonged bouts of extreme heat, high winds and dry-lightning sieges that scientists attribute to climate change.
