Wildfire Smoke Wafts Over Town in Southwest Turkey as Evacuations Continue

Large plumes of smoke emanated from a wildfire burning in southwestern Turkey, on August 4, as evacuations continued in surrounding areas.

This footage uploaded to Instagram by abdullah_bilecek shows a blaze burning in Kıyıkıslacık, as smoke wafted above the town of Güllük.

Flames that had prompted evacuations on Wednesday evening, were extinguished on Thursday, local officials said, as wider containment efforts continued.

That fire was one of more than 160 fires that had broken out in Turkey since July 28. At least eight people died as a result of the fires, authorities said. Credit: abdullah_bilecek via Storyful
