Travis Scott was arrested twice in 2024 after a slew of legal issues in previous years.

The “Topia Twins” rapper was arrested in August 2024 at a hotel in Paris after allegedly getting into a fight with his bodyguard, per French police. The arrest came two months after he was arrested in Florida on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing on a property after a warning.

While Scott paid the bond for those charges and was released shortly after, the Florida incident wasn’t the first time the rapper had been arrested. He previously ran into legal trouble at several of his performances and nightclubs.

In 2021, Scott was sued for $1 million by an attendee of his Astroworld Festival that occurred in November of that year in which 10 people died and hundreds more were injured. However, in June 2023, a grand jury decided against indicting Scott, stating that he was not responsible for the tragedy.

"I always think about it. Those fans were like my family," Scott told GQ of the incident in November 2023. "You just feel for those people. And their families."

From a rowdy crowd at Lollapalooza in 2015 to his latest arrest, here’s everything to know about Travis Scott’s legal drama.

Scott was arrested for the first time in August 2015 after his performance at Lollapalooza in which he allegedly encouraged attendees to climb the barricades and storm the stage. In a video of the performance, Scott gestured toward the crowd, saying, “Everyone in a green shirt get the f--- back,” referring to the security guards.

His performance was shut down just five minutes after he started as dozens of fans joined him on stage while he chanted, “We want rage.” However, the music was soon cut off, and Scott was warned the show could not go on until the fans got off the stage, at which point he said, “Listen, they’re gonna stop the show if y’all don’t get down. I wanna finish performing. We can start over, everybody just get down.”

Despite his plea, it was too late and the show was over, with Scott being taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct.

“The performer played one song and then began telling fans to come over the barricades,” the Office of Emergency Management spokeswoman Melissa Stratton told ABC 7 at the time. “Due to the security’s quick response, the situation was remedied immediately and no fans were injured. The performer fled the scene and was taken into custody a short while later.”

Two years later, Scott saw himself in a similar situation in May 2017 when he was arrested in Rogers, Ark. for allegedly inciting a riot, which is a felony if someone is injured or property is damaged, per local TV station Channel 5 News.

According to Rogers police, the “Sicko Mode” rapper once again encouraged people to rush the stage during a performance at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion and to bypass security protocols.

He was taken to Benton County Jail, but was released within 12 minutes of being booked. Nearly a year later, in February 2018, Scott took a plea deal for a misdemeanor disorderly conduct and paid $7,465.31.

In November 2021, Scott faced his biggest controversy yet after 10 people died and hundreds were injured during his Astroworld Festival performance held in his hometown of Houston. After the tragedy, people were quick to call Scott into question, holding him accountable for the events that transpired.

A month later, Scott sat down for an interview with Charlemagne Tha God where he shared that he couldn’t hear the screams coming from the crowd and didn’t see the injuries that were occurring.

"Anytime you can hear something like that, you want to stop the show, you want to make sure fans get the proper attention they need. And anytime I could see anything like that, I did," Scott said. "I stopped it like a couple times to just make sure everybody was okay. I really just go off of the fans' energy as a collective and I just didn't hear that."

Though Scott faced potential charges after one of the injured attendees sued him for $1 million, a Texas grand jury decided not to indict him in June 2023.

"Today’s decision by the Harris County District Attorney confirms what we have known all along — that Travis Scott is not responsible for the AstroWorld tragedy,” Scott’s attorney Kent Schaffer said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “This is consistent with investigative reporting by numerous media outlets and federal and state government reports that have squarely placed the onus for event safety crises on organizers, operators and contractors - not performers."

In March 2023, Scott faced trouble with the law after a night out at Nebula nightclub in New York City. Authorities in N.Y.C. were looking for the rapper after he allegedly punched a sound engineer in the face and caused $12,000 worth of damage to equipment before leaving the club.

The incident came after Scott came out for a surprise performance at Don Toliver’s concert at Irving Plaza.

"While this is clearly a misunderstanding being blown out of proportion by clickbait and misinformation, we are actively working with the venue and law enforcement to resolve and set the record straight,” Mitchell Schuster, a lawyer for Scott, told PEOPLE at the time. “We are confident our client will be cleared of any wrongdoing."

A month later, the rapper reportedly settled the case with no charges, per TMZ.

Scott was arrested after a night out in Miami in June 2024. He was booked at a Miami-Dade County jail at 4:35 a.m. on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing on a property after a warning.

"Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding," his attorney Bradford Cohen said in a statement. "There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us towards a swift and amicable resolution."

Representatives for the Miami Beach Police Department told PEOPLE they were called to the scene at Miami Beach Arena shortly before 2 a.m. where they allegedly found Scott “yelling at the vessel occupants.”

While the complainant didn’t seek to press charges, they asked Scott to leave the property. When police informed Scott he had to leave or he would be arrested, he left the premises and “walked backwards, yelling obscenities to the occupants of the vessel," per the arrest affidavit.

However, five minutes later, according to the affidavit, Scott returned to the premises and “began yelling once again, becoming erratic, disturbing the peace of the occupants of the marina and nearby residential buildings, causing a public disturbance,” at which point he was arrested.

Police claimed the rapper "later admitted that he had been drinking alcohol and stated, 'It's Miami.' "

Later that day, Scott released a t-shirt featuring his smiling mugshot with the words “It’s Miami” under it.

Two months later, Scott was arrested at a five-star hotel in Paris after a day watching the U.S. men’s basketball game at the Olympics.

The “FE!N” rapper was arrested after allegedly getting into a fight with his bodyguard.

"I can confirm that on August 9, 2024, shortly after 5 a.m., the police were called to the Georges V Hotel and arrested the man nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard," the Paris prosecutor's officer said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. "The latter had himself intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The 1st judicial police district was seized of the investigation by the Paris prosecutor's office."

A source close to PEOPLE shared that the rapper was expected to be released soon and that no injuries were incurred.

"After multiple days of being chased and harassed by paparazzi upon entering his hotel early this morning and another evening of being swarmed with no help given Travis was arrested at his hotel after unfortunately getting into a fight with his own security detail, his bodyguard," a source close to Scott said.
