Why Prince Harry Might Not Return to the U.K. for the Invictus Games Anniversary
He was expected to make a trip across the pond next month.
Just a few weeks ago, royal fans were gearing up for the possibility of a Fab Four reunion at this year's Invictus Games anniversary. Even then, it wasn't confirmed that Meghan Markle would be making the trip across the pond and now, sources close to the royal family say that Prince Harry may not make it, either.
According to The Express, it's all dependent on what level of security Harry is guaranteed when he's in the U.K. "Whenever Harry travels to the UK, his trips are always dependent on how secure he is," a source shared. "Before deciding whether to attend the Invictus Games anniversary event, his security team must be sure that St. Paul’s is adequately protected by the metropolitan police and his own security needs are met while he’s in London."
The source went on to say that the Duke of Sussex has been "disappointed" in his security options, which may lead to him staying in California and sharing a video message.
"Harry wants to spend more time in the U.K. with his family, but there’s no way he can do that while a question mark hangs over his security detail," the source added.

Harry has been embroiled in a legal battle involving his security. He's actively trying to overturn a ruling that saw his security status downgraded after he stopped being a "working royal." His legal team noted that he'd been "singled out" and treated "less favorably" by the Home Office and Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures.
Shaheed Fatima KC, Harry’s lawyer, told the High Court: "The claimant’s consistent position has been, and remains, that he should be given state security in light of the threats/risks he faces."

Sources did tell the Mirror that Harry will do his best to make the trip no matter what.
"He won't be put off, his chief of protection appears to be an ex-sergeant in royalty protection and is obviously highly trained," former head of royal protection Dai Davies said. "The other thing is even if he [Harry] doesn't have armed protection, he will get the liaison structure that would go with it."
The Invictus Games anniversary is set for May 8 in London.
