Here’s Why Linda Evangelista Isn’t Interested in Dating: “I Don’t Want to Hear Somebody Breathing”

Linda Evangelista just opened up about why she’s “not interested” in dating — and honestly, her reasoning couldn’t be more relatable. In a new interview with the Sunday Times published over the weekend, the supermodel was asked about her thoughts on re-entering the dating scene, and more specifically, why it won’t be happening any time soon.

“I don’t want to sleep with anybody anymore,” Evangelista told the outlet. “I don’t want to hear somebody breathing.”

The former super also admitted that the last time she dated was “definitely before the Cool-Sculpting,” in reference to the cosmetic surgery that left her "permanently deformed” and “brutally disfigured” in 2016, according to the star.

Prior to the incident, Evangelista was married to former head of Elite Model Management’s Paris office, Gérald Marie, whom she wed in in 1987 and divorced in 1993. Recently, Linda opened up about her tumultuous relationship with the businessman in the four-part Apple TV+ documentary, The Super Models, where she alleged that Marie’s abuse made her afraid to leave the relationship sooner.

“It's easier said than done to leave an abusive relationship. I understand that concept because I lived it,” she said in the documentary, which was released in September. “It wasn't a matter of just saying, 'I want a divorce, see ya.' It doesn't work that way.”

She added, “He knew not to touch my face, not to touch the money maker, ya know? I married him when I was 22 and I got out when I was 27, and he let me out as long as he got everything. But I was safe and I got my freedom.”

Marie’s lawyer, Céline Bekerman, issued a statement on his behalf to People, saying, “Gérald Marie firmly objects to the defamatory and false allegations made against him. He refuses to participate in this dishonest media controversy.”
