Where you can shop with crypto

KRISTIN MYERS: Well, with everyone so interested in using cryptocurrency, you might be wondering where you can use your crypto to make purchases. So let's discuss that in today's Your Money segment. We have Yahoo Finance's Stephanie Asymkos here with all of the details. Hi, Stephanie.
STEPHANIE ASYMKOS: Hi, Kristin. So I love talking about crypto because it really does feel like the harbinger of the future. We talk about this all digital currency, and then we can use it to buy physical things. So this week, actually, Venmo announced that it is integrating crypto into its platform. So that means that the 70 million plus Venmo users can now buy, sell, trade cryptocurrency for transactions as little as $1. So it's really bringing it to the masses.
KRISTIN MYERS: All right, so Stephanie, how can you spend that cryptocurrency once you've decided you do want to use crypto to make some purchases?
STEPHANIE ASYMKOS: Right, crypto's mainstream adoption really hinges on, like, well, where can I use it? So it can happen in two ways. Indirectly, there are sites like CoinGate and E-Gifter that you can actually use crypto to convert into dollars that can then be used to buy gift cards, major retailers and places that we all know, like Amazon, Delta Airlines, IHOP, Home Depot.
And then the other way is that you can directly spend your Bitcoin. And that is you don't need a third party. And for example, you can actually pay your AT&T bill with Bitcoin. You can shop on overstock.com or cheapair.com. And then if you're actually flush with Bitcoin, you can actually use it to buy a Tesla, or you can use it to fund your trip to space with Virgin Galactic that accepts Bitcoin as a currency.
