Matt Ryan To Take on New Role in ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’ Season 7 (Comic-Con Roundup)
Warner Bros. TV announced that Matt Ryan will return as a series regular for Season 7 of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” on the CW — but he will be playing a new character named Dr. Gwyn Davies. Additionally, Amy Louise Pemberton will finally more fully embody Gideon in the upcoming new season.
Ryan formerly played John Constantine (since Season 4), but that character’s arc will come to an end in the currently-airing sixth season. His new role is a scientist from the 20th century who brings new hope to the show’s team of heroes. Pemberton has been with the show for all six seasons, voicing the AI version of Gideon and occasionally portraying the character physically, but now she do so more frequently.

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” also stars Caity Lotz, Nick Zano, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, Adam Tsekhman, Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian and Lisseth Chavez. It is produced by from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Phil Klemmer, Grainne Godfree, Keto Shimizu, James Eagan and Sarah Schechter.
WBTV also announced that WaterTower Music will release “DC’S Legends of Tomorrow: The Mixtape” on Aug. 20.

Netflix announced that the sixth and final season of “Lucifer” will premiere Sept. 10 on the streaming service. .At the end of the fifth season the titular devil (Tom Ellis) almost became God, and now the world is unraveling without an almighty deity to preside over things, leaving Lucifer with a really tough decision on his hands. In addition to Ellis, Lauren German, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia and Kevin Alejandro also star in the series.
Amazon Prime Video announced that upcoming fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” will debut in November. The series is adapted by showrunner Rafe Judkins from Robert Jordan’s book series of the same name and stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, a member of a magical all-female organization who leads five young people on a journey around the world while trying to learn which one of them will fulfill the prophecy of the Dragon Reborn. Larry Mondragon and Rick Selvage of Red Eagle Entertainment, Mike Weber, Ted Field of Radar Pictures, Darren Lemke, Marigo Kehoe and Uta Briesewitz also serve as executive producers, with Briesewitz set to direct the first two episodes. Pike will serves as producer and Harriet McDougal and Brandon Sanderson serve as consulting producers. “The Wheel of Time” is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television. Amazon also announced that teen horror series “I Know What You Did Last Summer” will premiere in October. Based on Lois Duncan’s 1973 novel of the same name, the series is the story of a group of teenagers being stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night. Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom and Bill Heck star. Gary Tieche executive produces.
Syfy announced that upcoming horror series “Day of the Dead” will premiere in October. In an homage to George A. Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” films, the series follows a group of strangers struggling to survive a zombie invasion. Keenan Tracey, Daniel Doheny, Natalie Malaika, Kristy Dinsmore and Morgan Holmstrom star. The show comes from executive producers Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, and Drew Brown on behalf of Cartel Entertainment; Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson, and Jordan Kizwani from HiTide Studios; Matt Drake from Abbott Street Films; Samantha DeGagne; Steven Kostanski; Todd Masters; Doran Chandler Dawn Knight; Devan Towers; and showrunners Jed Elinoff and Scott Thoma. Paramount Plus announced a premiere date of Sept. 16 for adult animated series “The Harper House.” The comedy will follow a small town Arkansas family displaced to their spooky, inherited Victorian home after the mother and breadwinner loses her job. The home is a major fixer-upper, and the trailer sees members of the family happen upon hissing creatures in the basement and a dead woman in bed next to her sex toys. Starring Rhea Seehorn, Jason Lee and Ryan Flynn, “The Harper House” is executive produced by Katie Krentz and Brad Neely, who is also the creator. Brian Sheesley serves as supervising director. WarnerMedia’s Rooster Teeth announced that Season 2 of “Gen:Lock” will premiere this fall on HBO Max. The animated science fiction is set in a dystopia where a young team of robot pilots including Julian Chase (voiced by Michael B. Jordan) and Cammie MacCloud (voiced by Maisie Williams) fights to save the world from an invading force called the Union. David Tennant and Dakota Fanning also star. Netflix released a clip from its upcoming action feature “The Last Mercenary” starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, which premieres July 30. In the film, Van Damme plays an ex-secret service agent known as the “Mist,” who has to return to France when he learns his estranged son has been falsely accused by the government of drug and arms trafficking. Despite the hard-boiled premise, the clip — in which Van Damme’s character rescues a hostage in an abandoned hospital in Mongolia — underlines the playful nature of the French-language film, which was directed by David Charhon (“On the Other Side of the Tracks”) from a script by Charhon and Ismaël Sy Savané. Amazon released a trailer for “S.O.Z. Soldiers or Zombies,” a Mexican zombie apocalypse series premiering on Aug. 6. The eight-episode first season will follow a drug lord who escapes from a high-security prison with his son and hides out at a remote drug rehabilitation facility until the search forces hunting him down get infected by mutant zombies. Amazon also shared never-before-seen footage from “Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time,” an anime film to premiere on the platform Aug. 13 after its Japanese theatrical release in March of this year. This is the fourth and final in the “Evangelion” series. Watch the new footage below.
IMDb TV shared a sneak peek of a “Leverage: Redemption” episode that will stream this fall. The episode, which guest stars LeVar Burton as a librarian, is the directorial debut of actress Beth Riesgraf, who stars in the show as Parker. Watch the sneak peek below.
“Doctor Who” released a trailer for Season 13, featuring the Doctor herself (Jodie Whittaker), Mandip Gill as Yasmin and new cast member John Bishop, who will play Dan Lewis. During the panel, the BBC show — which is premiering later this year — also revealed that “Game of Thrones” actor Jacob Anderson will guest star as a character named Vinder. Watch the trailer below.
