Unsettled weather will continue across the UK this week.

The UK is set for more unsettled weather this week as some areas continue to recover from the ravages of Storms Babet and Ciaran.

The Met Office said sunshine and blustery showers were due on Sunday, with the latter mostly affecting western coastal counties and possibly heavy and thundery at times, although other areas would have generally dry and bright conditions.

Overnight on Sunday, showers are due to be confined to the far south and west, turning drier elsewhere with clear spells in the east. Mist and fog will form across central and northern areas.

Monday will bring more showers, sometimes turning heavy and thundery, with some sunshine in between, and more showers expected on Tuesday with rain arriving from the west overnight then clearing eastwards on Wednesday before more showers on Thursday.

A longer range forecast from the end of the week onwards said weather will remain "predominantly unsettled... bringing further rain or showers to many areas. There is also the potential for some further windy weather at times."

On Sunday morning, dozens of flood warnings remained in place in England – mainly along the south coast – after Storm Ciaran battered southern England and the Channel Islands with heavy rain and gusts of up to 100mph on Thursday, leaving nearly 150,000 homes without power.

Yahoo News breaks down what the weather will be like for each region of the UK this week.
