Western Texas Buried in Heavy Snowfall

Heavy snowfall was recorded in parts of western Texas on New Year’s Eve, as a storm was forecast to drop an additional 12 inches by midnight in some places, and snarl holiday traffic.

This footage was taken at the Antelope Lodge motel in Alpine, Texas. In Big Bend National Park, located south of Alpine, officials reported that all roads were impassable on Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a winter storm warning was in effect for large parts of western Texas, including Odessa and Midland, the heart of Texas’s Permian Basin oil industry. Credit: @igTXSalazar via Storyful
