West Ham, Tottenham prepare eye-catching move for £50m Chelsea starter Pochettino will sell
West Ham United and Tottenham are considering making a late offer for exit-linked Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to reports.
Mauricio Pochettino is considering selling the England international after bringing in Moises Caicedo (£115m) and Romeo Lavia (£58m) this summer.
Gallagher can be a top player on his day, but Pochettino could sanction his exit. This is despite him starting all three of Chelsea’s Premier League matches so far.
The Blues value the midfielder at approximately £50m, though, so West Ham or Tottenham would have to make a sizeable bid to sign him.
Gallagher made 45 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last term. In the process, he scored three goals and made one assist.
David Moyes is keen to add another midfielder to his squad before the transfer window closes. Equally, Ange Postecoglou could also do with some more creativity in the middle of the park, especially with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg linked with an exit.
Tottenham would, however, need to sell several players before making a bid for Gallagher. The likes of Hojbjerg, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and several others have been deemed surplus to requirements by Postecoglou.

West Ham, Tottenham consider late Gallagher bid
According to Football Insider, both West Ham and Tottenham are weighing up a late bid for Gallagher.
The report notes the midfielder is considered to be a ‘valuable member of the Chelsea squad by Pochettino.’ The manager will, however, consider letting him go for the right price.
As mentioned, that price is believed to be £50m. Gallagher came close to leaving Stamford Bridge in January when Everton tried to sign him, during the reign of Frank Lampard.
Football Insider also claim that West Ham have already seen a £40m offer for Gallagher turned down this summer.
Moyes has since brought in James Ward-Prowse (£30m) and Edson Alvarez (£35m) to bolster his midfield, but he still wants another centre-mid.
Tottenham’s midfield options currently consist of Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Pape Matar Sarr, Oliver Skipp and Hojbjerg, who is expected to leave.
Gallagher would arguably be an upgrade on Skipp and Sarr, so could prove to be a good signing for Tottenham.
He also has plenty of experience at the highest level – chalking up eight Champions League appearances last term as well as seven caps for England.
With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if West Ham or Tottenham make a concrete bid for Gallagher in the next few days, and whether they come close to matching his £50m price tag.
