They went to the pub until this all blows over

"I'm Steve Pond."

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ASSISTANT MANAGED OF THE PRINCE, DOM TOWNSEND, SAYING:

"And I'm Dom Townsend, and we're spending lockdown in a pub."

Well, if you had to spend weeks in one place, going to the pub, having a nice cold pint, and waiting for all of this to blow over doesn't sound like a bad idea.

"I think I'm getting worse with the beer, right?"

That's exactly what these two did.

"We've got like, some weights and stuff upstairs."

Dom is assistant manager at The Prince in North London. Steve manages their live events -- when they had live events.

They both live in the flat above the bar, and that's alright.

"At the start, it was quite difficult because I wasn't sure, with an existing lung condition that I had, so I kind of started to self-isolate a couple of weeks before. But after confirmation from my doctor, I found I could go out, so that kind of eased it a bit for me. (...) The beer is obviously the high. We've got our golf. We've got our PlayStation. So we can't complain, really."

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ASSISTANT MANAGED OF THE PRINCE, DOM TOWNSEND, SAYING:

"The worst, I think, is the random noises. You realize in the pub when you're sort of locked in it, the amount of things that crash, drop, bang in the middle of the night is a little bit weird and creepy later on."

(SOUNDBITE) (English) ASSISTANT MANAGED OF THE PRINCE, DOM TOWNSEND, SAYING:

"As we say, there are downsides. (...) You've got this kind of weird ghost town underneath you, that you're used to being loud and boisterous, and having so much going on and we've kind of lost that a little bit. It feels a bit weird being here some times."

Yeah, Steve and Dom miss their friends and patrons, obviously.

They have each other, chess, and rooftop barbecues, but are really looking forward to the big party when finally they're allowed to reopen.

"But at the same time, you know, we can't complain. We've got a roof, we've got a garden, we've got all of this space, we've got fresh beer on tap. We're about as lucky as it gets."
