Wendy Williams’ $3.75M New York Penthouse, Where She Was Found Unresponsive in 2020, Has Sold at a Loss
The former talk show host's apartment in Manhattan's Financial District was sold in May by her court appointed guardian, while she remains in a care facility
Wendy Williams’ New York City penthouse has been sold.
An apartment belonging to the TV personality, who recently shared she is in a care facility and was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, was sold by her court-appointed legal guardian.
Property records indicate that Williams purchased the apartment in Manhattan's Financial District in June 2021. According to Zillow, she paid just over $4.5 million for it at the time and it sold for just $3.75 million earlier this month.
Built in 2016, the 2,403-square-foot duplex property features three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Details of Williams’ current financial holdings have not been made public. PEOPLE previously obtained paperwork from the New York Department of Finance filed on Feb. 8 showing that therewas a tax lien against the condo for the amount of $568,451.57, accrued between 2019 and 2021.
Williams legal and financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, could not be reached for comment.
Prior to the sale of the apartment, Williams’ has not been living in the residence. In May 2020, she was found unresponsive in her home by The Wendy Williams Show deejay DJ Boof, PEOPLE previously reported. She was later rushed to the hospital, where she needed several blood transfusions.
This was followed by the conclusion of her show — without Williams on screen — in 2022 after 13 seasons.
Since, her family shared her diagnoses with PEOPLE and that she presently remains in a care facility, adding that her court-appointed legal guardian is the only person who has unfettered access to her.
Her life between August 2022 and April 2023 was documented for the Lifetime series, Where Is Wendy Williams? The docuseries captured the former host's life following the cancellation of her synonymous talk show due to alcohol addiction and several health issues, including Graves’ disease and lymphedema.
Lawyers for Williams’ guardian allege in court documents that Lifetime "incorrectly states that [Williams] is 'broke' and cruelly implies that her disoriented demeanor is due to substance abuse and intoxication.” The court documents also reveal Williams was paid $400,000 for her participation in the film.

Morrissey and Hunter recently entered into an ongoing legal dispute regarding alimony money.
According to a lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of New Jersey and obtained by PEOPLE, Morrissey is demanding Williams' ex-husband pay back $112,500 dollars in alimony.
In a separate court response obtained by PEOPLE, Hunter demanded Williams pay him 23 months in back payments for spousal support from their divorce. He claims Williams stopped paying alimony before she was placed under a court-ordered guardianship.
