Wendy’s and Popeyes Bring Back Their Fish Sandwiches Just in Time for Lent

If you’re looking for a fish fry, Wendy’s has you covered.

While many Catholics abstain from eating meat on certain days during Lent (which started on Feb. 14 and concludes on Easter, Mar. 31), these fast food spots are offering a seafood alternative.

Wendy’s crispy panko fish sandwich rejoined the menu on Monday. The fan-favorite item combines a panko breading-coated, Alaska Pollock filet with lettuce, American cheese, pickles and tartar sauce on a bun. Prices vary by location but $6.16 is the recommended cost.

Popeyes is also helping out with meatless Fridays, which is tradition during Lent.

On Wednesday, the fried chicken spot brought back two limited-time fish dishes: the flounder fish sandwich and the shrimp tackle box.

First introduced back in 2021, the flounder fish sandwich comes in classic and spicy options. It sandwiches a breaded flounder filet with pickles and tartar sauce or a spicy spread, in between a brioche bun.

The shrimp tackle box is another returning Popeyes item and combines fried shrimp, a biscuit, tartar sauce and your choice of a side in one order.

Both returning menu items are $6.

Wendy's adds new Cinnabon Pull-Aparts to breakfast menus

Wendy’s is also adding a new menu item that is a sweet way to start your day.

The chain is partnering with Cinnabon to create Cinnabon Pull-Aparts. Starting Feb. 26, the sweet treat will be available at Wendy’s joints during breakfast hours. Per a release, the new breakfast item is “Wendy's spin on a classic cinnamon roll while still upholding the familiarity of the product.”

The Cinnabon Pull-Aparts consist of Danish dough doused in glaze baked with cinnamon, brown butter and sugar. Each one is also lathered in the cinnamon bun brand’s iconic cream cheese frosting with “a subtle citrus note.”
