Wedding Proposal Video Goes Wrong After Raccoon Distracts Woman Filming: ‘Missed Whole Kneeling Part’

On Monday, TikTok user Mary Dawson shared a video of the moment she missed capturing her friend's engagement because she was distracted by a furry animal.
“POV: I shouldn’t have been trusted to record my friend’s proposal,” she wrote over the clip.
In the video, Dawson is recording her friend and her friend's boyfriend standing in a backyard surrounded by fairy lights. The boyfriend then reaches into his pocket to pull out the engagement ring, but as he does, Dawson gets distracted and moves the camera to film something behind her in the woods, which turns out to be a raccoon.

The TikToker zooms in on the mammal before panning the camera back to the couple, however, by the time she does, the proposal is already over and the duo was celebrating their engagement with a hug.
“Missed the whole kneeling part,” Dawson captioned the 19-second clip. “Don't worry, she wasn’t mad!” She also added various hashtags, including, “#racoon #ifeltsobad #ifailed.”
The video, which has garnered more than 24 million views and nearly five million likes on the social media platform, was quickly flooded with remarks from fellow TikTok users in the comments section.
“They can recreate the proposal, the racoon could be a once in a lifetime thing!” joked one, while another wrote, “I'd actually be mad about the fact you didn't call me over to see the raccoon.... 🤣.”
“I hope this is my proposal vid,” added a third.
A fourth wrote, “The way you’re shaking after seeing the raccoon 😭."
