Weather warnings were in effect for parts of northwest Mexico on August 18 as Hurricane Genevieve neared, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
The NHC said the Category 4 storm prompted a tropical storm warning for the southern Baja California Peninsula in Mexico.
By Tuesday afternoon, Hurricane Genevieve was located 270 miles west-southwest of Manzanillo. The storm was expected to near the peninsula on Wednesday night.
