If you’re big on dental hygiene like me, then you'll want to check out the Amazon Prime Day deal on the Waterpik Water Flosser for 43 percent off!

I visit the dentist three times a year for wellness checks and professional cleanings. I own a few of those fancy spinning toothbrushes and some charcoal toothpaste. I’ve even given up drinking certain tooth-staining beverages just to maintain a healthy smile. But there is one oral care step that I absolutely hate: flossing.

In spite of possessing seemingly good habits when it comes to taking care of my gums, I cringe every time I start to floss. I find it to be time-consuming, a bit painful, and due to hormonal changes (hello, pregnancy!), I often suffer from gum swelling and bleeding. Not flossing, however, would absolutely haunt me. So at the suggestion of my then-dentist, I bought the Waterpik Water Flosser to make flossing more manageable and maybe even enjoyable. She was absolutely on to something.

The Waterpik Water Flosser, which is on sale for $40 (from $70) for Prime Day, claims to get you “healthier gums and brighter teeth in just a minute a day.” It allows you to control 10 pressure settings, comes outfitted with seven different flossing tips and offers 90 seconds of water capacity in its clear tank. No wonder this gadget has garnered over 55,000 perfect five-star ratings on Amazon!

Since adding this water flosser to my daily routine, I can not only get through flossing way quicker (a bonus for me as a new mom), but I’ve noticed way less gum irritation. When I switched dentists, I didn’t reveal my secret until he was halfway through cleaning, but that didn’t stop him from bragging to his assistant about how bright pink and healthy-looking my gums were.

Trust me, after you read reviews for this oral care device, you’ll add it to your Amazon shopping cart ASAP. Scroll down for more Waterpik Water Flosser intel from shoppers, and to shop this hygiene gadget during Prime Day.

And if you have Amazon Prime, you’ll get free shipping, of course. Not yet a member? No problem. You can sign up for your free 30-day trial here. (And even those without Prime get free shipping on orders of $25 or more).

All the bells and whistles

Dental pros are pointing patients toward this Waterpik. And, boy, are they pleased.

"Couldn't be happier," stated one five-star reviewer. "I am in my late sixties and my gums are starting to recede. A few years back, I began to develop slight to moderate periodontal disease. I felt that my previous water pick, even at its lowest setting was sometimes more harmful than beneficial to my gums. ... I also wanted something that was recommended by the American Dental Association. My dental hygienist recommended this specific Waterpik water flosser because of its overall performance and its versatility of settings and attachments...Also, according to my hygienist, this is more effective than string floss..."

Beats string floss

Folks who don't like dental floss are happy to find that this works even better.

Another five-star reviewer commented: “So I had 4mm and 5mm periodontal pockets from not flossing and also experienced some bone loss. I also had to get a very uncomfortable deep gum pocket cleaning. I literally hated flossing and would find myself avoiding to floss even though I needed it very much. My gums were red, swollen, and inflamed because I was in the early stages of periodontal disease. I started using the Waterpik flosser and instantly like this way of flossing much better! After using it consecutively each night for only five days my gums were noticeably better and felt much better. After two weeks of using the Waterpik flossing, coconut oil pulling and mouthwash treatment, my gums have done a complete 180 and my mouth and gums are starting to heal properly!”

New and improved

Primo dental health was already drilled into this shopper: “I am the son of a dentist, the brother of a dentist, and the son of a professor of dentistry at one of the prominent dental schools in Ohio. Needless to say oral hygiene has been beaten into me since I was a child. In the '70s and '80s people use water picks and for some reason they seem to have gone out of vogue. A good one completely replaces the need for dental floss which most people hate to use. Having grown up with a water pick in my house, and always only one, I can tell you that this is the best one I’ve ever had.”
