Watch Tom Hardy and “Venom: The Last Dance” director shoot down fan theories
"What's really interesting is that you care that much to really look into it. It's cool," he said of the fan theories.
Tom Hardy is shooting down Venom fan theories like turds in the wind.
The Mad Max: Fury Road star sat down with Entertainment Weekly to dissect Venom fan theories alongside Kelly Marcel, director of Venom: The Last Dance and writer of all three films in the trilogy.
Hardy began by acknowledging the anatomical puzzle of Eddie Brock and the symbiote's fusion. "When Eddie Brock 'transforms' into Venom, his head opens up wide, and his tongue hangs out. Where does Eddie's head go? Seriously, where the hell is his head?" a fan asked.
Hardy provided a thoughtful and unexpected answer. "Well, I always imagined that he was like a little embryonic sac so he can breathe inside Venom like a baby," he said. "Because he's always so muffled!"
Similarly, another fan asked, "Where is Venom in Eddie's body? Since Venom could see his liver, I assume he's literally just IN all his organs, but not necessarily attached to them."
Marcel jumped in with her own idea. "I've always thought he just shrinks, and he's like a little Eddie," she said. Hardy seemed delighted by the idea. "A little person inside him, just walking around like 'ARGH!' Through all of his veins, he can feel him, just waiting to come out," the actor said. "We never thought about it."

The director had a very direct answer to a question about how the symbiotes and their hosts deal with pain and injuries. "They are clearly in pain," Marcel said of the hosts. "You see Eddie get his knees bashed by Cletus. But symbiotes heal their hosts. Once the host goes inside the symbiote, they come out healed."
The duo also discussed a fan's suggestion of bringing Venomized dinosaurs into The Last Dance. "There is a whole canon of dinosaurs in Venom comic books," Hardy said. "In fact, dinosaurs should really play in any Venom stuff going forward, if that's not an issue." Marcel added, "Well, we should just go back and reshoot and put a Venom dinosaur in."

For the next question, Marcel and Hardy were shown a brief clip from the first Venom in which Hardy mouths the symbiote's lines while riding a motorcycle — even though the rest of the symbiote's dialogue happens within Eddie's head.
"That's really interesting because, in this movie, we have another character who does actually speak with the symbiote within him," Marcel revealed. "And you actually have seen Venom speak through a human face as well because when Mrs. Chen morphs with Venon when she becomes Chenom, he talks through her mouth."
Hardy clarified that the motorcycle lip movement was an accident. "I was probably on the bike ad-libbing outside the window as Eddie's just panicking, and Venom is talking at the same time," he said. "But it is interesting. What's really interesting is that you care that much to really look into it. It's cool."
Marcel noted they should lean into the moment as a creative choice. "I think we should say we did it on purpose," she said, to which Hardy responded, "We did. That was absolutely calculated. Again, another great idea of mine."
