Watch live: Vance campaigns in North Carolina as early voting set to begin

Vice presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) is holding a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday evening, a day before early voting opens in the Tar Heel State.

Vance is expected to encourage voters in the crucial swing state to take advantage of mail-in and early voting, according to the campaign. The push comes after the southeastern U.S. was rocked late last month by Hurricane Helene, which threatened to disrupt voting in the state.

A survey from NBC News showed that while Americans are more eager to vote before Election Day than four years ago, a partisan divide remains deep. Vice President Harris has a 17-point lead among voters who plan to cast their ballot before Nov. 5.

The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index shows former President Trump with a narrow lead over Harris in North Carolina — 48.9 percent to 47.5 percent.

The event from Wilmington, N.C., is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. EDT.
