Watch: Trump headlines ‘Chase the Vote’ town hall in Phoenix

Former President Trump rallied supporters and fielded questions at a town hall in Phoenix sponsored by Turning Point Action, a youth-oriented conservative group based in the city.

The event’s title, “Chase the Vote,” is in keeping with the Republican National Committee’s recently announced “Swamp the Vote” focus, which aims to increase GOP voter turnout by encouraging early and mail-in voting. That strategy reverses Trump’s earlier criticism of mail-in ballots.

Trump leads Biden by 3.3 percentage points in Arizona, according to recent polling. Factoring in third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. widens Trump’s lead over Biden slightly. But Trump-endorsed Republican Kari Lake is trailing Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego by 7.6 percentage points in the Arizona’s race for U.S. senator, a reflection of Arizona’s status as a swing state.

Trump was slated to appear at 5 p.m. EDT.
