Watch live: Trump courts voters in Pennsylvania, at site of first assassination attempt
Former President Trump is returning Saturday to Butler, Pa., nearly three months after a bullet grazed his ear at the same site in an attempted assassination.
“We never finished what we were supposed to do,” Trump told NewsNation last month, when announcing the rally. “And I said that I said that day when I was shot, I said, we’re coming back. We’re going to come back.”
The July 13 shooting, which left one rallygoer dead and two others injured, upended the presidential campaign and, along with a second apparent assassination attempt on Trump last month, has thrust the Secret Service into the political spotlight.
SpaceX owner Elon Musk, who endorsed Trump following the threat on his life, said he would attend Saturday’s campaign event as a show of support.
The event also comes as he and Vice President Harris are locked in a tight race in the Keystone State. The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index shows Harris leading the former president with 48.9 percent to 48.1 percent, likely within the margin of error for most polling.
Trump’s remarks are scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT.
