Watch: Biden gives remarks on California fires

President Biden gave remarks Thursday about the wildfires raging in the Los Angeles region that have killed at least five people, forced thousands to evacuate and caused irrevocable damage to homes and neighborhoods across California.

Biden was expected to convene senior administration officials for a briefing at the White House on the full federal response to the fires. Vice President Harris was also expected to attend.

The president, who was in Los Angeles earlier this week, viewed the damage from the fires and pledged support for state and local officials, as well as first responders battling the blazes. He also canceled his weekend trip to Rome to focus on recovery efforts in the Golden State.

The video was scheduled to air at 4:30 p.m. EST.
