Washington State WR Brandon Gray in ‘serious but stable’ condition after shooting
Washington State wide receiver Brandon Gray is in “serious but stable” condition at a Spokane hospital after he was involved in a shooting near campus on Friday night, the school said on Saturday.
Gray was shot in the incident at a house party near campus, police said. Another man, 23-year-old Liban Barre, was killed, police said.
"We are aware of an incident involving WSU football student-athlete Brandon Gray that occurred last night in Pullman," athletic director Pat Chun said in a statement. "Brandon was transported to a Spokane hospital where he is in serious but stable condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brandon and his family and friends. As this remains an open police investigation, we are not able to comment further at this time."

Police said they were called around 12:30 a.m. about a loud house party near Washington State’s campus with about 200 people in attendance. As officers arrived, they heard multiple gunshots.
Both were transported to a local hospital, before Gray was flown to a Spokane hospital. Barre was pronounced dead at the Pullman Regional Hospital, according to ESPN.
One man, George Melvin Harris III, was arrested on an assault charge related to the incident, though the investigation is still ongoing.
Gray did not travel with the Cougars to Salt Lake City for their game against Utah on Saturday, which they lost, 24-13.
After the game, Nick Rolovich revealed that Brandon Gray, WSU wide receiver, was one of the victims in last night's shooting in Pullman and is in stable condition.

“I know the Pullman community is hurting from the incident last night. One of our teammates was involved in that, Brandon Gray,” Washington State coach Nick Rolovich said after the game. "Our thoughts and prayers are with [Gray]. I have so much respect for this team for how they played — I know we didn't win; I know we weren't great — but for them to go out and play as hard as they did with the news they got this morning about their teammate is a tribute to their character."
