The Walking Dead's Lauren Ridloff and Gavin & Stacey's Youssef Kerkour are among those being recognised on this year's BAFTA Breakthrough list, which is in partnership with Netflix.

The new talent initiative, which was launched in May 2020, aims to champion the next generation of creative talent across the entertainment industry, from movies and television to video games.

The line-up was selected by an industry jury comprised of the likes of Killing Eve's Fiona Shaw, British Vogue's Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful, filmmaker Amma Asante and I May Destroy You actor Paapa Essiedu.

Tony nominee Ridloff is perhaps best known for portraying Connie on hit horror series The Walking Dead and will next be seen in Marvel's Eternals, in which she'll make history as the MCU's first deaf superhero Makkari.

Meanwhile, in addition to playing Emlyn on Gavin & Stacey's 2019 Christmas special, Kerkour has appeared in shows such as Marcella, Criminal, Dracula and Sex Education.

The BAFTA Breakthrough participants will take part in a year-long mentoring and guidance programme, with BAFTA working with each Breakthrough individually to create a tailored year of support, mentoring and career development.

Other individuals being acknowledged across both the US and the UK include Rocks star Bukky Bakray, The Goldbergs writer Aadip Desai, Spider-Man: Miles Morales writer Mary Kenny and Bait producers Linn Waite and Kate Byers.
