Votes cast in Mongolia's presidential election

Voters said they were supportive of the COVID-19 safety measures taken by election organisers.

Mongolian is currently battling a resurgence of coronavirus infections, with daily cases hitting a record last week.

The vote is the first after constitutional amendments stripped the presidential office of some of its powers and limited holders to a single six-year term, keeping incumbent Khaltmaa Battulga of the opposition Democratic Party from seeking re-election.

Analysts predict Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, candidate for the ruling Mongolian People's Party as the winner of the election, with Democratic Party candidate Sodnomzundui Erdene trailing behind.
