Voters Wait in Long Line to Cast Ballots in Madison, Alabama

Alabama residents reported long lines as voters waited to cast their ballots on Tuesday, November 3, amid a high voter turnout in the state.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill said more than 2.5 million people had already gone to the polls by 11 am on Tuesday, according to local media reports. Alabama did not offer early voting.

Merrill also said a record-breaking number of absentee ballots have been submitted. Reports said 300,402 ballots were successfully returned as of Tuesday morning, breaking the previous record of 89,000 absentee ballots.
