Numerous water distribution sites were set up in Austin, Texas, by Sunday, February 21, following a historic winter storm that left thousands without electricity or clean water.
Northeast Early College High School in Austin was a designated “water drop-off” location, which allows volunteers to pick up water and deliver it to people in need.
“Instead of waiting for folks to come to a central distribution site — the vulnerable, folks with disabilities, elderly who can’t leave their homes — we’re getting this water and we’re taking it out,” former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke said.
