Volunteer fighters mourned on Ukraine national day
STORY: Mothers, fathers and wives brought flowers and memorabilia to the Wall of Remembrance and looked for portraits of their sons on the memorial wall.
57-year-old Vira, whose son Yevhen was killed by a missile last year, brought carnations and his portrait to the memorial, but was unable to find the picture of her son. She was hopeful that it would be placed on the wall soon.
Ukraine marks Volunteer Fighter Day on March 14 to commemorate the day when the first volunteer battalion of the National Guard was formed in 2014.
