A new explosion was reported at La Soufriere volcano on the Caribbean island of St Vincent on the afternoon of Friday, April 9, hours after an initial eruption.
New activity at the volcano produced a vertical ash column reaching approximately 4 km into the air, the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Center reported.
Barbados officials expected clouds from the new explosion to reach their shores on Friday evening.
