Smoke from wildfires burning on the west coast of the United States made its way across the country on July 20, creating hazy skies and making sunsets glow red on the East Coast.
This clip, posted by @dcstorms on Twitter, shows the sunset in Reston, Virginia, just outside Washington DC, as wildfire smoke swept over the area.
The wildfire smoke was transported across the country via the jet stream, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
“While most of the smoke is higher in the sky, some of it could make its way closer to the ground,” the NWS said. Credit: @dcstorms via Storyful
