A Virginia animal shelter is expressing its concern after finding two dogs abandoned at the same dumpster on separate occasions this year.

Back in July, Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) shared in a Facebook post that it discovered a dog that was abandoned at a nearby apartment complex. Then, earlier this month, the establishment noted that another canine was found in the same location.

"This is the second time we’ve found a dog in this exact location and situation. What is HAPPENING?!?" RACC wrote in its social media post, sharing several photographs of the 4-month-old female Pitbull puppy that was left behind recently.

"Help us FIND the person(s) responsible for abandoning their dog like trash," the shelter added.

In its Facebook post from over the summer, RACC similarly shared several photographs of that dog abandoned near the same dumpster.

"We are going to say this again. Out loud. It is NEVER ok to abandon your dog in a crate next to the dumpster, discarded like trash," the group wrote at the time.

"You would think this is something we would never have to say, but we’ve found dogs like this (alive and dead) more times this year than we care to share," they added.

Then noting that they are "TIRED of cleaning up the fall out from citizens awful decisions," RACC said, "We are heartbroken for these animals who trusted their owners that failed them."

"PLEASE STOP!" the organization pleaded with its social media followers.

Richmond Animal Care and Control shared a happy update with PEOPLE. According to the shelter, both dogs found near the dumpster went on to get adopted and now live in loving homes.
