Virginia Lok debunks myths about TVB Awards

1 Dec – For every year that the TVB Anniversary Awards is held, there will always be rumours about the nominees and the event itself.

Which is why TVB Executive Virginia Lok recently decided to debunk all the myths related to the awards during the press conference held on 28 November, HK01 reported.

Regarding the rumour that actors have to renew their contracts in order to win TV King and Queen, she said, "Dayo Wong wasn't a TVB artiste, and Kara Hui was also not a part of TVB when she won. The year Kevin Cheng won, he wasn't contracted to us either. Linda Chung is nominated this year, and she is not signed with TVB anymore. The competition is fair."

As to whether an artiste has to be 'obedient' in order to be rewarded, Lok said that the word obedient itself has a lot of meanings.

"If you obey and not have an opinion, that's obedient. But also, if you can work together with everyone, that's another type of obedience. I think being able to work together is the most important," she said.

As to what is the criteria to win TV King or Queen, she said, "The most important thing is to do well in their series, and we also factor in the actor's performance in other dramas. I would consider other things as well when the competition is tough," she said.

The upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards will be held on 2 January 2022.
