Vin Diesel Hints At ‘Fast X: Part 2’ Release Date, Finale Status & Dwayne Johnson’s Return
Being a sequel to a $7.3 billion franchise has its headaches. Just ask Vin Diesel about the next Fast & Furious installment Fast X: Part 2.
The star posted on social media yesterday, teasing at the possibility of a spring 2026 release, the return of Dwayne Johnson, who he’s reportedly square off with on-screen and off, as well as a two-movie finale.

Wrote Diesel, “I got universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026! I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale! Then the writer on Fast Five sent me this image and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences. I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood. Happy Thanksgiving…”
Already Universal set The Flash screenwriter Christina Hodson and Cloverfield screenwriter Oren Uziel to write Fast X: Part 2 with Fast X director Louis Leterrier returning to helm.
Currently, Universal doesn’t have an event film dated for March 2026. Rather, they have a space designated on March 13 that year for Mike Flanagan’s untitled Blumhouse The Exorcist movie. Some Fast & Furious movies tend to come out at Easter, which falls on April 5 in 2026. Uni is currently holding Holy Weekend for an untitled animation event movie.
Interestingly enough this weekend, Disney’s Moana 2 is gunning to potentially unseat Johnson’s record opening at the domestic box office, Furious 7, ($147.1M). That installment is also the franchise’s best opening ever in U.S./Canada. At the very least, Moana 2 is poised to become Johnson’s second highest opening at the domestic B.O. ahead of The Fate of the Furious ($98.7M).
Deadline reached out to Universal for comment. We’ll update you if the studio happens to weigh in.
Fast X opened to $67M at the domestic B.O., $323.8M worldwide, ultimately finaling at $146.1M domestic, $704.8M.
