Vikings is doing things differently for the last 10 episodes of its sixth and final season. Normally episodes are aired first on History, but the last batch will drop on Amazon Prime.

The episodes will all drop on the service in one go later this month, and there's a trailer that Amazon has just released to tide you over until then. The promo sees the characters dealing with everything they have lost so far, and wondering if the age of Vikings is over.

Meanwhile, there is one final battle brewing, with Bjorn Ironside recovering from a devastating clash with Ivar the Boneless from earlier in the season. Obviously he'll return to the fight, but will he survive it?

Vikings creator Michael Hirst recently teased that we should absolutely expect casualties, stating: "The characters who we all, including me, have grown to love will have their fates decided. Whether they live or die is, of course, in the hands of the gods, although I had a hand in it too."

Although this will be the end of the main show, a spin-off series named Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Vikings: Valhalla is in the works. It will be set 100 years after the main show, focusing on William the Conqueror, the invasion of 1066, and the Christianisation of the Pagan world.

Hirst has teased that, since the show focuses on descendants of characters we know, we may see a few familiar faces.

Vikings drops the second half of season 6 on December 30 on Amazon Prime Video.
