“The View”'s Sara Haines slams Rep. Nancy Mace as 'bullying troll' over congresswoman's transphobic social media meltdown
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also said on "The View" that Rep. Mace needs an "intervention" over her multiple anti-trans posts online.
The View cohost, silencer of Joy Behar's cell phone, and queen of that one queer volleyball league, Sara Haines, has once again taken a stand for LGBTQ rights as she called out Rep. Nancy Mace's recent transphobic meltdown on social media.
"Our country just elected the first openly transgender member of the House," Haines, 47, said on Friday's live show, before pointing out Mace's ongoing issues with Delaware's incoming Rep. Sarah McBride, who's set to become the first openly transgender member of Congress. "She's already being targeted by GOP Rep. Nancy Mace, who introduced a bill backed by House Speaker [Mike] Johnson that bans trans women from using women's facilities at the Capitol. I have to point out, that this is not about an issue."
Haines added that she felt 46-year-old Mace was "a trolling bully" and that "there's really no two sides" to the issue, after pointing out Mace's numerous social media posts across the last 24 hours, including one that sees her ripping down a row of transgender flags and multiple posts deliberately misgendering trans people.
The panelist segued the point into a question for her interview guest, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, whom she asked for recourse on how to deal with the hostility regarding Mace's grievances.
"Well, Nancy Mace clearly needs an intervention, in terms of the fact that she's chosen this fight at this moment, when there are so many issues that the American people want us to work together on and deal with, to improve their lives and deliver real results," Jeffries, 54, said. "Now, Rep.-elect McBride has handled this with grace, strength, and perspective. She said to all of us that she came to Congress to fight for the people of Delaware, not to fight about bathrooms."
He finished: "We're going to make clear that Rep. McBride will be treated with dignity and respect."
After Behar, 82, questioned why the Capitol can't have all-gender restrooms like, as she said, the studio at The View does, Jeffries confirmed: "There are all-gender bathrooms in many of the Capitol office buildings, not necessarily in the Capitol itself. But, we're going to work through that."

Per MSNBC, Speaker Johnson previously announced Wednesday that "all single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House Office Buildings — such as restrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms — are reserved for individuals of that biological sex,” and that, “Women deserve women’s only spaces."
Mace has spoken in support of LGBTQ rights in the past, including in a 2021 interview with the Washington Examiner.
“I strongly support LGBTQ rights and equality,” she said at the time. "It isn’t a black-and-white issue. I do believe that religious liberty, the First Amendment, gay rights, and transgender equality can all coexist. I’m also a constitutionalist, and we have to ensure anti-discrimination laws don’t violate First Amendment rights or religious freedom."
