Wisconsin Kids, Dog Kayak Down Flooded Street in Janesville

Two Wisconsin kids and a dog took to kayaks on July 7, navigating flood waters that spread after two inches of rain fell on the town of Janesville.

Tasha Calkins LaVeen posted this footage to Facebook. It shows her son Caleb, 13, and daughter Chelsea, 10, paddling through the water outside their house — the result, she said, of a backed-up sewer that hasn’t been fixed.

“We used to complain to the city about the flooding on our street,” wrote LaVeen. “After over 15 years we’ve learned to just make lemonade when life gives you lemons. We’ve kayaked it over the last few years. Now the kids never want to get it fixed.”
