Voters Line Up Outside Belarus Embassy in Prague to Cast Ballots in Presidential Election

A long line of voters waited outside the Belarus Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic, on August 9, to cast their ballots in the Belarusian presidential election, footage shows.

This video, posted to Twitter, shows a line stretching around the block outside the embassy in the city’s Troja area.

Euronews reported that polls opened at 8 am in Belarus and would remain open for 12 hours with results expected to be announced on August 10.

Four candidates are running against incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, who has held the office for 26 years.

Euronews reported the main contender was Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, a 37-year-old English teacher who decided to run after her husband was jailed and barred from running. Credit: @drennydread via Storyful
