Violent Scenes for Second Night Outside Serbian Parliament
There was a second night of violent protest in Belgrade, Serbia, on July 8, a day after the parliament was stormed as new coronavirus restrictions were announced.
Video from July 8 shows riot police guarding the parliament building in Belgrade as they are pelted with objects, including flares.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported that police “used tear gas to disperse the protest, which lasted well after nightfall on July 8 outside the parliament building.”
The demonstrations erupted after President Aleksandar Vucic announced new mandatory distancing steps and his intention to impose a weekend curfew.
Vucic said that he and other officials were considering scrapping the curfew, and said a final decision on the lockdown was expected on July 9. Credit: RFE/RL via Storyful
