Verona Mayor and Police Stand at Attention Outside Hospital to Show Appreciation for Medics

Federico Sboarina, mayor of Verona, Italy, stood at attention alongside police officers in front of a large Italian flag outside Hospital Borgo Roma on March 30, to show appreciation for medical workers battling COVID-19.

According to local media, the hospital building’s windows were full of doctors and nurses who acknowledged the gesture.

Mayor Sboarina was also joined by the rector of the University of Verona and the director of the Integrated University Hospital of Verona, according to SOS EMERGENZA.

The participants saluted hospital workers, gave them a round of applause, and turned on several sirens.

“It’s a tough time for the whole world of health and rescue and it’s nice to see people coming together in this moment,” wrote SOS EMERGENZA on Facebook. Credit: SOS EMERGENZA via Storyful
