Tortoise Shell-ebrates Turning 54 With Special Cake at Perth Zoo
A tortoise at Perth Zoo turned 54 recently, and footage released on September 18 shows him tucking into some delicious cake to celebrate.
Galapagos tortoise Cerro munched on a cake filled with some of his favourite treat, watermelon, to mark another year.
“Despite turning 54, Cerro is still considered a youngster,” said keeper Leanne Kelman.
“Galapagos tortoise are the longest living vertebrate, with the oldest on record thought to be around 175 years old,” she added. Credit: Perth Zoo via Storyful
