Storm Clouds Roll Over North Carolina Ahead of Tropical Storm Isaias

Forecasters told residents of coastal North Carolina to brace for a “high” chance of tropical-storm-force winds as Isaias approached the region on Monday, August 3.

Tropical Storm Isaias was packing maximum winds of 70 mph as it moved north at 13 mph, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in its 11 am update on Monday. The storm was about 90 miles east-southeast of Brunswick, Georgia, as of 11 am.

The storm was forecast to make landfall in the Carolinas on Monday night. “Strong” winds and “heavy” rainfall were forecast for the Carolinas and other states along the East Coast on Monday night through Tuesday, the NHC said.
