Gusty winds and snow hit the Cottonwood Canyons in northern Utah on Friday, December 8, as transportation officials warned drivers to “stay alert” due to snowy conditions.

A winter weather advisory was in effect on Friday for several mountainous areas in northern Utah, where weather officials reported total snow accumulations ranging from 6 to 12 inches.
