Security Footage Shows East Troublesome Fire Overtake Homes in Grand Lake, Colorado

Footage from a Grand Lake, Colorado home security camera shows the moments leading up to when the East Troublesome Fire overtook homes in a wooded neighborhood on Wednesday, October 21.

The footage taken at around 7 pm on Wednesday night shows the embers from the East Troublesome Fire, then a half hour later shows flames lapping near the home of Katy Brown.

Brown told Storyful: “Our cabin was a complete loss — we’re devastated.”

According to official reports, the East Troublesome Fire reached 188,389 acres, or 294 square miles, as of Saturday, October 24, now the second largest fire in Colorado history. The fire started on October 14, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Mandatory evacuations continued on Saturday for individuals directly in the path of the fire, from Estes Park to Drake, Colorado, reports said.
