Sea Levels Rise as Eta Approaches Southwest Florida
Eta restrengthened to a Category 1 hurricane over the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday morning, November 11, before weakening again to tropical-storm status as it moved toward the west coast of Florida.
Video from local resident and meteorologist Jared Heil shows high water levels beginning to breach structures at a marina in Isles of Capri, in southwest Florida, Wednesday morning.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami issued a hurricane watch for western coastal counties, and warned of a “life-threatening storm surge” and tropical storm-force winds by late Wednesday.
Eta was reportedly packing 75 mph winds as of 10 am.
