Roadways Flood in Cumberland After Heavy Rain in South Maine

Streets were flooded in Cumberland, Maine, on Saturday, December 14, after heavy rains swept through the region. The Maine and New Hampshire coasts were under flood and flash flood watches on Saturday.

According to local reports, some areas across Maine’s coast received five inches of rain in a matter of hours.

The Presumpscot River, located in Westbrook, has a flood stage of 15 feet and by noon on Saturday, it reached 16.2 feet, the report said. By Saturday evening, the river could reach 19 feet and remain above flood stage through the weekend.
